The Wizard’s Reflection

How Dare You

When tempers flare, it is all too easy to succumb to the passion of the fray. In such a space, getting to a resolution of any kind is completely overshadowed by the compulsion for retribution. Our free will and better judgment are overcome by a negative mindset. Everything at one’s disposal is thrown into the mix, including words that might otherwise prove peaceful if spoken with more mindfulness, as they are re-tasked to cut rather than reveal.

In such a space, it is difficult not to interpret things in the most negative of ways. But this is where the way out presents itself. When we hear the remarks of others, if we can catch ourselves in the act of interpreting them in the worst of ways, we can begin to give ourselves the space we need to allow clarity to return. The turmoil of this kind is addictive and requires nothing less than an act of will to break such mentalities and compulsions.
