“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”
– Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Wizard’s Reflection
Into The Void
Faith is a contentious topic at times, yet if we look at the idea directly, rather than from within one of the ideologies that claim to own the idea, we find that our lives are largely run by faith in ourselves. Surely we can take in as much information as possible before we make decisions, but ultimately we must decide much of our life based on incomplete certainty. By whatever name we call it, it is faith that fills in where certainty is lacking.
Some leaps of faith are small and ordinary. Others are so grand or wild that they are difficult to comprehend. Such momentous leaps are a call from deep within us to take the path we cannot see. Such leaps are radical departures from how we normally make decisions, and yet in the taking of them, we can be rewired to become akin of a deeper awareness of subtle certainty that guides us.
