“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”
—Maya Angelou
The Wizard’s Reflection
Poetic Inspiration
The ancient art of the vision quest is indicative of our inherent need for being in touch with a clear and energizing life path. Sometimes this can be wrapped in the idea of a life purpose, as in a big picture for one’s journey and why they are here. Other times “purpose” can arise moment to moment, in the simpler things that form the stepping stones which comprise our day-to-day life. In any case, orienting and feeding ourselves with an inspirational perspective to bring to any and all situations is key to mustering the power to create a life that is fulfilling.
Finding the poetic empowerment we need to rise up and soar will be found in different ways by each. Some will purify themselves in retreat or inner journeys. Others will seek out the arts, either in practice or as an audience, to nourish themselves with inspiration. Still, others will find the more ordinary parts of life, such as relating, reading and wandering, to be their sources of the energies that bring them to life. No matter where we find it, it is essential that we learn to do so, cultivating and learning to express it into the world around us.
